Tutorials on Editing Variant Price, Compare-at Price, and Unit Price •
The Bulk Product Edit app offers a wide variety of variant price, compare-at-price, and unit price editing options. In this article, we offer a general guide to this feature and briefly review each option available.
Please note that this feature edits variant pricing in the default currency of your store. For regional pricing edits, please see the article: How Do I Edit Region Pricing?

How to edit Variant Price
1. Set up the product matching conditions
Before anything, make sure that you are in the correct section of the app. Visit the Bulk Edit tab. Click the dropdown and choose the edit option Pricing.
The first step to setting up a bulk edit is to set up product matching conditions in Step 1. Our app has many fields that you can filter from, which can help you narrow down the products that you would like our app to edit. You may choose to set up conditions or search by a list of products. Our app also comes with a preview function, so that you can verify if the products matched are correct.

Optional: Set up variant matching conditions
If you're not looking to edit all variants of a product, and only specific variants of a product, this is the step to set up variant matching conditions to further filter the task.

2. Choosing how to edit the Variant Price

There are a lot of options to choose from:
- Change price to - Use this option to bulk change prices to a defined value
- Adjust price by amount (with option to adjust compare-at price) - Use this option to bulk increase or decrease prices by fixed amount
- Adjust price by percentage (with option to adjust compare-at price) - Use this option to bulk increase or decrease prices by percentage
- Update price to percentage of compare-at price - Use this option to bulk update price to a percentage of compare-at-price
- Update price to percentage less than compare-at price - Use this option to bulk update price to a percentage less than compare-at-price
- Swap price and compare-at price - Use this option to bulk swap values of price and compared-at-price
- Update price based on cost-per-item - Use this option to bulk update price based on cost-per-item
- Update price based on cost-per-item and shipping cost - Use this option to bulk update price based on cost-per-item and a fixed cost such as shipping/handling
- Round price on numbers before decimal point - Use this option to bulk round price on the numbers before decimal point.
- Round price on numbers after decimal point - Use this option to bulk round price on the numbers after decimal point
Tip: Clicking any option in Step 3 will give you a detailed explanation of how each option works:

Example case: Decrease price by 20%, round to the nearest .99 decimal point, and set original price as compare-at price.

For this tutorial, I will be decreasing this product's price by 20% and will be rounding it to the nearest .99 decimal point to make the pricing clean. I will also set the compare-at price to the original price so that customers know the product is on a 20% discount.


After I have set it up, I will be clicking Start Bulk Edit Now to start the task.

Once done, you can check the results.

How to edit Variant Compare-at price

2. Choosing how to edit the Variant Compare-at Price
There are a lot of options to choose from:
- Change compare-at price to - Use this option to bulk change the compare-at price (the crossed-out price) to a defined value
- Adjust compare-at price by amount - Use this option to bulk increase or decrease certain amount based on current compared-at-price.
- Adjust compare-at price by percentage - Use this option to bulk increase or decrease compared-at-price by percentage
- Update compare-at price to percentage of price - Use this option to bulk update compare-at-price to a percentage of price
- Update compare-at price to current price + fixed value - Use this option to bulk set compare-at prices to price + a fixed amount
- Update compare-at price so that price is lower by percentage (set discount) - Use this option to bulk update compare-at-price so that price is a percentage lower than compare-at-price
- Update compare-at price based on cost-per-item - Use this option to bulk update compared-at-price based on cost-per-item
- Remove compare-at price - Use this option to bulk remove compared-at-price
- Round compare-at price on numbers before decimal point - Use this option to bulk round compared-at-price on the numbers before decimal point
- Round compare-at price on numbers after decimal point - Use this option to bulk round compared-at-price on the numbers after decimal point
Tip: Clicking any option in Step 3 will give you a detailed explanation of how each option works.

Example case: Displaying a 50% sale on all products by editing only the Compare-at Price.
For this tutorial, I will be showing that I am having a 50% sale on a product by editing only my compare-at price. I will be updating the compare-at price to "200%" of the variant price to make it look like half-off or 50% off.


Once done, you can check the results via the "Bulk Edit Tasks" tab. You can also manually check them yourself in your store.

How to set Variant Unit Price Measurements

2. Set the Unit Price by Measurements

Use this operation to set the unit prices for matching variants. The unit price in Shopify is a calculation based on the variant's price and the total amount and base measure values you set. The unit price is calculated based on the price for the product's total units divided by the units it contains, and then multiplied by the base measurement.

Example case: Setting the unit price measurement to $0.02/10mg

In this example, I will be setting the Unit price to achieve the result of $0.02/10mg. To achieve this, I must set the Total amount to 5g, and the Base measure to 10mg.
