How do I find the ID of a product category?_
There are two ways to find the Shopify GID of a category. In this article, we will discuss both of these methods.
Method 1: Look up the product category ID in Shopify Standard Product Taxonomy page
Users are able to find the GID's of existing product categories using the Shopify Standard Product Taxonomy page.

In this example, we will find the product category ID of "Sporting Goods > Outdoor Recreation > Winter Sports & Activities > Skiing & Snowboarding > Snowboards" category.
To start with, find the category in the "Categories" section on the left of the webpage. Note the new level-oriented interface: once you click the caption of a parent-level category, a next-level column will expand below to show captions of all categories that are children of the parent-level category you just clicked. Keep doing this until you have reached the category you are looking for.
Once you have successfully identified the product category you are looking for, take a look at the "Selected Shopify Category" section in the middle column of the page. You will see the product category's Shopify GID in this card (named "Shopify Taxonomy ID" on this page). In our example, the product category ID is "gid://shopify/TaxonomyCategory/sg-4-17-2-17", which you will supply to the BPE app for your bulk edit tasks.
Method 2: Check the product category of products in BPE preview
You may make use of the product preview feature on the Product Type & Category page on BPE to see GID's of product categories, should you be able to filter at least one product you are aware that is of the product category you need. This is more useful if you actually need to check the product category (or categories) of certain products.
To check the product category of certain products in BPE preview, select Bulk Product Edit in the homepage and navigate to the Product Type page.
In "Step 1: Select what products to edit", use any available filter to select products in your store. The result list of filtered products will show up in "Step 2: Preview selected products"; for each of the filtered products, if there is a product category assigned to it, the Shopify GID and name of the category will appear in the "Product Category" column in the preview.
Please note that product categories in BPE preview will show up in "[Short Name] ([Shopify GID])" format. The short name contains the name of the final-level taxonomy, with names of all its parent categories omitted. In the example above, "gid://shopify/TaxonomyCategory/gc" is the Shopify GID of the product taxonomy assigned to the product, and its name is "Gift Cards".
