Tutorials on Editing Variant SKU Barcode fields (BPE)

1. Set up the product filter

Before anything, make sure that you are in the correct section of the app. Click the the "SKU & Barcode" and you can now proceed with the editing. The first step to setting up a bulk edit is to set up the filters. Our app has many fields that you can filter from, which can help you narrow down the products that you would like our app to edit. Our app also comes with a preview function, so that you can verify if the products found are correct.

2. Choose what you want to do with the products/variants

There are a lot of options and a lot of ways that we can do this but for this tutorial, we are going to choose "update barcode incrementally" since my products don't have a barcode yet. I will be choosing "barcode is empty" filter so that all of my empty barcode(s) will be filled.

Do note that although we are going to use "update barcode incrementally" there are a lot of options that you can use. You can refer to the screenshot below.

All of these functions does a different thing below is a brief description on their use(s).

  • Update SKU with template - You can generate SKU based on certain product-based templates. There are a lot of template variable supported. You should be able to see it once you select the option.
  • Find and remove text from SKU - Use this option if you want to remove text from current SKU.
  • Find and replace text from SKU - Use this option if you want to replace text from current SKU.
  • Update current SKU to uppercase for all characters - Use this option if you want to make SKU to all uppercase letters.
  • Update SKU incrementally with new seq. number - Use this option if you want to update SKU from a starting number.
  • Update SKU incrementally from existing seq. number - Use this option if you want to update SKU from a sequential number where previous task has left off.
  • Append incremental number to the current SKU - Use this option if you want to append incremental numbers to the current SKU. (ex. current SKU is SKU999 and input 1000, result will be SKU9991000, SKU9991001, SKU9991002, etc)
  • Clear SKU - Use this option if you want to clear the SKU value.
  • Update barcode with template - You can generate barcode based on certain product-based templates. you should be able to see the supported variables once you click this option.
  • Find and remove text from barcode - Use this option if you want to remove text from current barcode.
  • Find and replace text in barcode - Use this option if you want to replace text from current barcode.
  • Clear barcode - Use this option if you want to clear out barcode value.
  • Update barcode incrementally from existing seq. number - Use this option if you want to update barcode from sequential number where previous task has left off.
  • Append incremental number to the current barcode - This is much like the SKU version but this one's for barcode.

From here I'll assign the number "10000001" for my sequence so that it starts on this number.

After this, I'll start the bulk edit by clicking the "start bulk edit now" button.

Once this is done, you should be able to see the results from your "bulk edit tasks", you can click the details if you want to see results. As you can see, my 3 variants has a new Barcode starting from "10000001"

You can also follow the video below for an in-depth guide on how to do this.
