How do I add an option to my products? [BPE]
There are two ways to add options to your products using our Bulk Product Edit app:
1. Add a variant option value (add multiple variants): Running this task will clone one option inside your products to create a new one.
2. Clone variants and options from a selected product: Running this task will clone every option and variant from a selected product onto the targeted products. This is especially useful if you want all of the new products to have the same prices/attributes as the base product.
Add a variant option value (add multiple variants):
1. Open the Variants & Options tool. You can find this tool in the sidebar.
2. After selecting your product filters, you will reach Step 3: Edit Matching Products. You can now select Add a variant option value (add multiple variants).
This feature is used to clone an existing option within your products to create a new one (for example, create Large based on Medium, or Red based on Blue). The app will automatically create every combination of variants that includes the new option.
For example, lets say your shop sells t-shirts with two option categories: Size and Color. You can clone the "Red" option to create a "Yellow" option. The app will automatically generate a Yellow variant for every size (Yellow/Small, Yellow/Medium, etc).
Note: This task does not require aggressive filtering. The app will scan all products that match the filtering criteria, and will only create a new option if the base option exists.
Clone variants and options from a selected product:
1. Add all of the new options & variants you want to a single product.
2. Open the Variants & Options tool. You can find this tool in the sidebar.
3. After selecting your product filters, you will reach Step 3: Edit Matching Products. You can now select Clone variants and options from a selected product.
Running this task will clone every option and variant from a selected product onto the targeted products. The existing options and variants will be deleted and replaced by the options and variants of the selected product.
Note: After the bulk editing, all the edited products will have the same variants and options as the selected product. This includes all attributes such as price, compared price, and weight.
